Let me tell you about my mission......
I serve in the Family and Church History Mission. It's a unique mission that has full time and church service missionaries. There are also full time elders (most with special needs) that serve in my mission. They are awesome and have a great spirit about them trying to serve the best they can. I have a mission president (President Workman)- he's great. I have been able to attend some pretty powerful prayer meetings to start my shift as well some of the best devotionals ever. I serve in the "training zone"(there are 17 zones in our mission). I am part of a remarkable group (there are 7 of us) that teaches/trains new missionaries that are called to serve at the Family History Library. We teach 8 classes for a week that will help them with the guests that come to the library seeking their ancestors. I am truly blessed to be a part of this group. They have taught me much about Family History work, patience, love and being an important part of hastening the work in family history. I have come to love each one of these wonderful missionaries that I have been able to interact with, so Elder and Sister Bass (my zone leaders), Elder Stephens, Sisters Pearson, Kay, Speirs- You Da Best! (also Sister Hunter-who does so much for so many at the Library!! Unfortunately she's not in this pic) I'm also still living life in the fast lane which for me equates to normal everyday family life....
Our sweet SiSi just finished being a part of the production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. What a great show. So much talent from a group of Jr High and High School kids. I had my first experience working backstage. I met some great people as we helped with costume changes, alterations and moral support. Sierra had the time of her life and met some good friends who ironically may have less drama in their lives than some of the boys she hangs out with (long story-she thought being friends with boys would bring less drama than girls-thats debatable)

Lucas turned 1! What a fun weekend this was:) After Sierra's play we spent some time together celebrating little Lucas' first birthday
He loved his nice gifts, but what he mostly loved was the paper and crawling around in it and giving loves to a lot of his cousins that were there.
Is this a cake or what???
Loving all of the attention
and Zoey loved Lucas' doll
Random Thoughts......
One of the blessings of serving with full time Elders is being able to hear them speak at our Monday morning devotionals. I was very impressed with Elder A who has high functioning autism. He told us about how he was obsessed with video games and programming. His parents tried to help him understand that playing games and programming on the Sabbath wasn't a good use of time. His Dad gave him a challenge that if he focused on the Lord on the Sabbath as much as he focused on gaming and programming he would better know God and what he needed to do. He was struggling on whether or not he had a testimony. He loves challenges so he took his Dad to task, hoping he could prove him wrong. As soon as he committed himself to the challenge he had a nightmare that evening. In it he was wrestling with a snake. He fought very hard, but the snake bit him. He woke up frightened and looking for a bite, but of course couldn't see one. In the morning, he explained to his mother the nightmare he had. She said that it had significance for him. The snake was Satan and even though the snake bit him, he survived. And so it is with life my friends, the adversary is real, and even on occasion, no matter how hard we fight against it, we can get bit. BUT...we can survive. The Atonement of Jesus Christ allows for our survival, to be healed and to get back on our feet. Elder A let us know from that point, he puts the Lord first in all that he does. It has allowed him to be fully engaged on his mission and get through not being able to game or program at all during his time here.
Chet has been able to teach institute at the Utah State Prison. I hope he will write his experiences down because they are profound. But in the short words of one of the prisoners ".....if Christ can love me, the least of all, in this dark prison cell, he can love all"
